StatBoard Pro
Release Notes
← User Manual
- Both Network Scan Lab: a new sidebar rail icon opens an on demand LAN scanner on both StatBoard and StatBoard Pro. Enter a CIDR or IP range (your primary subnet is prefilled on first open), tap Scan, and watch the host table fill live with IP address, hostname, round trip time, open ports, and alive or dead status.
- Both Scan profiles: Quick for discovery only, Standard adds NetBIOS names, and Deep adds port scanning plus HTTP and SSH service title lookup on alive hosts. New sessions default to Deep so open ports and service titles appear on the first scan.
- Both Studio layout: compact summary tiles (alive, selected, filtered), filter bar with range field and search, sortable host table, and a 252 pt Details inspector for MAC, vendor, NetBIOS, TTL, ports, labels, and Wake on LAN when a MAC is known. Studio chrome matches Process Lab, Storage Care, and System Report.
- Both Range and import: CIDR notation, hyphen ranges, comma lists, saved ranges in the Filters popover, and optional target file import (.txt or .csv). Only private and link local addresses are scanned; ranges cap at 65,536 hosts.
- Both mDNS discovery: Bonjour browse merges responding devices on your LAN into the scan set at start (eighteen common service types). Reverse DNS and optional NetBIOS (UDP 137) run during enrichment on Standard and Deep profiles.
- Pro ICMP and ARP on StatBoard Pro: full ping sweep and ARP table read for faster discovery, MAC addresses, and IEEE OUI vendor names in the table and inspector.
- Both App Store discovery path: when the sandbox blocks ping and ARP, StatBoard uses TCP port probes and Bonjour instead. MAC and vendor columns are hidden with a short footnote until platform sign off enables the full path.
- Both Labels and persistence: assign a persistent label to any host in the inspector (anchored by MAC, or by IP when ARP is unavailable). Saved scan ranges survive relaunch via SwiftData. Session filters and results stay in memory only.
- Both Export menu: save or copy the current scan as CSV, JSON, plain text, or IP:port list. CSV export guards against spreadsheet formula injection.
- Both Refresh and cancel: header Scan reruns the current range; optional auto refresh (5 s to 1 min) while the sheet is open (default manual). Done cancels in flight ping, ARP, and Bonjour work immediately.
- Both Deep links: Network module detail Labs menu opens Wireless Lab or Network Scan Lab. Wireless Lab Scan subnet on a gateway row prefills the range. StatBoard Pro Scan host on a private IP socket in Open Files opens a single host scan.
- Both Privacy: LAN discovery runs on device only while the sheet is open. No scan history is uploaded. Targets are limited to RFC1918 private and link local IPv4 addresses. Local network permission is requested when macOS requires it.
- Both User manual: hosted manual updated with a Network Scan Lab section and screenshot.
- Both System Report: tap the dashboard hero strip (machine identity row) to open the full macOS system profile. The same hardware and software inventory as System Information, on both StatBoard and StatBoard Pro.
- Both Category browser: about fifty
system_profiler categories in a searchable sidebar (Hardware, Software, Memory, and other common types pinned first). Pick a category to inspect its fields in the Inventory pane.
- Both Field search: a second search bar filters labels and values inside the selected category (useful for long lists such as Applications).
- Both Summary strip: compact tiles show total category count and, for the current selection, item and field counts.
- Both Refresh and export: header Refresh re-runs
system_profiler while the sheet is open; Save writes the raw JSON report to disk via the standard save panel.
- Both Readable layout: humanized field names, collapsed sections when a category has many items, and selectable text for long paths. Studio layout matches Process Lab and Storage Care (twin panels, filter bar, inset cards).
- Both Performance: the full report is parsed once per refresh; switching categories is instant from an in memory cache.
- Both Privacy: inventory is read on device only while the sheet is open. No background scans, no telemetry, and no network use. Optional JSON export is user initiated.
- Pro Process Lab inspector: a new sidebar rail icon opens an on demand process workspace. Full
libproc table lists every running process with CPU %, memory, PID, parent PID, state, and executable path while the sheet is open.
- Pro Live process table: sortable columns (click a header for chevron and order), CPU capsule meters beside each percent, app icons in the name column, and semantic state coloring. Summary tiles show total process count, top CPU consumer, and top memory consumer.
- Pro Search and focus: inset search field filters by name, PID, or path. Deep links from CPU or Memory, or from Open Files, focus the table on one PID with a removable focus chip.
- Pro Process actions: quit or force quit with confirmation and PID plus start time preflight (shared with Open Files). Reveal executable in Finder from the context menu.
- Pro Cross link with Open Files: Show Open Files on a Process Lab row opens the open files inspector for that PID. Show in Process Lab on an Open Files process row or detail pane opens Process Lab for the same PID (the current sheet dismisses first so only one inspector is visible).
- Pro Open Process Lab: CPU and Memory top process context menus include Show in Process Lab, matching the existing Show Open Files deep link.
- Pro Auto refresh: Process Lab and Open Files default to a 5 second rescan while the sheet is open (session only; choose Manual or 10 s to 1 min from the header menu).
- Both Wireless Lab auto refresh: the Wireless Lab sheet also defaults to 5 second refresh while open (session only).
- Pro Storage Care inspector: a new sidebar rail icon opens an on demand storage workspace (PureMac engine parity, StatBoard native UI). One filter driven table replaces separate cleaner tabs: header Analyze and Done, live volume strip from the Disk module, summary scope tiles, sortable items table, and a Details pane with neutral removal notes per category.
- Pro Smart analyze: one scan runs ten reclaim categories in parallel: system caches, logs, and temp files; user caches (including per app sandbox cache folders); Ollama and LM Studio logs and caches; Mail Downloads when permitted; user Trash on all mounted volumes; Homebrew, npm, Yarn, and pnpm caches; Docker cache folders plus an optional docker system prune action row when the Docker CLI is installed; Xcode DerivedData, Archives, simulator caches, and device support trees.
- Pro Opt in categories: Large and Old files (>100 MB or older than twelve months) and downloaded Xcode simulator runtimes appear only when you turn on the matching filters. Simulator runtimes delete through
simctl with confirmation; they are never selected by default.
- Pro AI history rows: Ollama CLI prompt history and LM Studio conversation folders are listed separately and start unchecked so you opt in before removal.
- Pro Unlinked library preset: find Library folders left behind by apps you already removed. The engine compares folder names to every app in
/Applications and ~/Applications (bundle IDs and normalized names), with safety rules that skip Apple system areas and sensitive paths.
- Pro Application focus: pick an installed app in the Filters popover to morph the table into related support files (containers, bundle ID matches, optional heuristic name matches). System apps are not selectable. Move an app to Trash from the toolbar or context menu when the row is an
.app bundle under Applications.
- Pro Related file match scope: Filters checkboxes for Bundle ID, Containers, and Heuristics control how aggressively related files are found (default: Bundle ID plus Containers).
- Pro Search and kind filters: compact search bar plus Filters popover with kind tag chips, clear all, and session only toggles (nothing persisted to Settings).
- Pro Sort menu: sort the items table by name, kind, or size, ascending or descending. Default after analyze: size, largest first.
- Pro File actions: reveal in Finder and copy path from the table context menu (shared with Open Files).
- Pro Remove selected: bulk delete with confirmation. Allow listed paths only; protected, cloud, and immutable items are skipped. Permission denied folders can escalate to a one time administrator delete pass. Partial failures stay visible in a notice banner above the table.
- Pro Full Disk Access guidance: Mail attachment scanning and deeper Library visibility need FDA. Inline footnote plus Open Privacy Settings in Filters; the sheet rechecks every two seconds and refreshes automatically when access is granted.
- Pro Volume context: pinned strip shows boot volume capacity, external disks, and APFS purgeable space as read only context (purgeable space is never offered as deletable junk).
- Pro Open Storage Care: Disk module detail sheet includes a button to open the inspector with the Disk accent.
- Pro Privacy: Storage Care runs on device only while the sheet is open. No background scheduler, no telemetry, and no network use.
- Both Localization fix: restored module card titles, settings labels, and alert template wording that briefly appeared as raw catalog keys after the English only string catalog cleanup.
- Both Wireless Lab: new dashboard rail sheet for Wi-Fi analysis when your Mac has a Wi-Fi interface. Four tabs: Networks (scan table, congestion summary, network details), Radio (channel heatmap and spectrum charts), Link (connection info, roaming timeline, signal trend), and Tools (connectivity self check and BLE discovery).
- Both Wi-Fi scanning: tri band surroundings scan with sortable table, band filter, search, deterministic SSID colors, and linked selection across charts. Manual refresh plus optional auto refresh (5 s to 1 min) while the sheet is open only.
- Both Radio analysis: per band channel heatmap, congestion score, Gaussian spectrum view with hover labels, session replay scrubber, and A/B snapshot comparison. Export spectrum as PNG or CSV.
- Both Link and roaming: live connection details (IP, gateway, DNS, VPN, interfaces), session RSSI trend chart, roaming event timeline with range filter, and JSON export/import for roaming sessions.
- Both Connectivity diagnostics: optional self check (path, DNS, HTTPS, proxy, captive portal, IPv6) in Tools. Off by default in Settings; uses Apple's captive portal endpoint only when enabled.
- Both BLE scanner: discover nearby Bluetooth LE devices in Tools with RSSI bars, session pin, and trend chart while the sheet is open.
- Both Open Wireless Lab: Network module detail sheet includes a button to jump straight to the Link tab when Wi-Fi hardware is present.
- Both Location for SSIDs: macOS requires Location Services for Wi-Fi network names; StatBoard prompts on Wireless Lab open and shows guidance when names stay hidden.
- Pro Open Files inspector: a new sidebar rail icon opens an on demand view of every open file, directory, socket, pipe, and device across all running processes (Sloth inspired).
- Pro Search and filters: filter by type (files, directories, IP sockets, Unix sockets, pipes, devices, program binaries, working directories), access mode, volume, home folder, or applications only; search with optional regex and case sensitivity; exclude paths matching session patterns.
- Pro Process outline: collapsible process sections with app icons, sortable file rows (descriptor, path, type), process level sort, expand or collapse all, and a path bar for the current selection.
- Pro Connections and IP Sockets views: dedicated lists for pipe and Unix socket links between processes and for IPv4/IPv6 sockets, each with process app icons and protocol or state details.
- Pro File actions: reveal in Finder, copy path, open, open with, show package contents on
.app bundles, and move to trash (with confirmation) from the context menu or selection toolbar.
- Pro Process actions: get info (rich detail including owner, permissions, service name, mount point, and optional hostname lookup for IP sockets), show in Finder for app bundles, and quit or force quit with confirmation.
- Pro Deep links: CPU and Memory top process menus include Show Open Files to open the inspector filtered to that process.
- Pro Administrator scan: optional root authenticated scan shows files owned by other users and protected system processes (toggle in the filter bar).
- Pro Auto refresh: optional interval timer (5 s to 1 min) rescans while the sheet is open; manual by default.
- Pro Interface density: compact or normal spacing for the filter strip and table rows.
- Pro Keyboard shortcuts: ⌘1 through ⌘6 toggle the six primary file type filters.
- Pro DNS lookup (Get Info): optional session toggle resolves hostnames for numeric IP socket addresses in the info sheet (off by default; uses the system resolver).
- Both Battery system power: live whole machine watts, AC input with adapter utilization, and battery charge or supplement power on MacBooks, in the menu bar popup, detail sheet, and new alert rules (system power, AC input, battery power).
- Both Connection phase: clear status for on battery, connecting to AC, charging on AC, and AC with battery supplement: one caption row instead of a generic power source label.
- Both Smarter time remaining: a single merged time row with computed fallback when macOS does not publish time to empty or time to full; charge limit aware when Optimized Battery Charging or a macOS charge limit applies.
- Both Live watts menu bar style: optional battery menu bar widget showing current draw (with a warning when load is very high or the battery is supplementing AC).
- Both Faster plug and unplug updates: battery readings refresh immediately on AC connect and disconnect, not only on the next poll.
- Both Battery pack detail: manufacture week, lifetime operating time, temperature and voltage extremes, and cell topology on the detail sheet when your Mac exposes them.
- Both Popup cleanup: battery menu bar popup emphasizes watts and phase; amperage, voltage, and rated adapter move to the detail electrical panel only.
- Both Optimized charging hold: one elevated status row when macOS pauses charging on AC, instead of redundant not charging rows.
- Pro Package power on CPU, GPU, and Memory: live CPU, GPU, and DRAM package power in watts on each module’s dashboard card, detail sheet, and menu bar popup.
- Pro Per core CPU frequency: peak core MHz in the CPU detail sheet and menu bar popup (alongside the per core load histogram).
- Pro CPU and GPU active residency: how much time each CPU cluster and the GPU spends in an active performance state, in detail sheets and menu bar popups.
- Pro HID power sensors: PMU current, voltage, and power readings in the Sensors detail sheet Power group (alongside the existing package power rails).
- Pro ATA/SATA SMART drive health: internal spinning and SATA SSDs now appear in the same Drive health panel as NVMe (when the bus exposes SMART).
- Pro Neural Engine on the GPU card: ANE power and load on the compact dashboard card; new Neural Engine menu bar widget style.
- Pro Display FPS menu bar style: compositor frame rate from the GPU module’s menu bar widget picker.
- Pro Per cluster HID temperatures: CPU and GPU menu bar popups list individual efficiency and performance cluster temperatures when the sensor bus publishes them.
- Pro Fan speed menu bar style: busiest fan RPM in the Sensors menu bar widget picker.
- Both Faster thermal alerts: thermal pressure rules react immediately when macOS reports a state change, without waiting for the next poll.
- Both Sensors popup cleanup: duplicate tied temperature rows (same sensor family at the same °C) collapse to one entry in the hot list.
- Both Smarter menu bar style picker: Settings only offers widget styles your edition can actually populate (App Store edition hides Pro only ANE, FPS, and fan styles).
- Pro SoC package power rails: CPU, GPU, ANE, DRAM, and PCI package power in watts, shown in the Sensors detail sheet Power group.
- Pro NVMe SMART drive health: temperature, life remaining, spare %, lifetime read/write, power cycles, hours, and unsafe shutdowns on the Disk detail sheet and menu bar popup.
- Both Rail close button: the sidebar foot button closes the dashboard window instead of quitting the app.
- Both Single window control: minimize and zoom buttons hidden on the fixed size dashboard; close is the only traffic light.
- Both Hero strip inset: removed redundant top padding above the machine identity strip.
- Both Initial release: live dashboard with masonry card grid, menu bar monitors, and plain language alert rules.
- Both Eight modules: CPU, GPU, Memory, Disk, Network, Battery, Sensors, and Bluetooth.
